Gifted Girls Panel Discussion

Gifted girls are creative, curious, talented, and innovative learners. Too often, they are not given the support they need to thrive and develop confidence.

Giftedness and Growth Mindset

As early as TK, Kindergarten, and elementary school, gifted students often experience early academic success with minimal effort. This can foster a fixed mindset, where children come to believe their success is purely due to innate talent. When they eventually encounter complex or challenging material, they may become frustrated, assume they are "not smart enough," and give up.

A growth mindset is crucial for gifted students to accept that struggle is a necessary part of learning. They need intentional structure to teach them that approaching challenges with effort, curiosity, and new strategies is an important part of learning.
